Updated for winter 2017
Some of the best winemaking regions on earth are in Los Angeles’s backyard. The Napa Valley Cabernet and Central Valley Pinot Noir have become as essential to California’s cuisine as our fresh produce. As such, the city is brimming with sommeliers excited to introduce us to the more unique wine varietals grown both at home and around the world.
LA continues to add fantastic new spots to sip approachable wines by the glass, like La Brea’s Wilde and Tabula Rasa, Thai Town’s new wonderful neighborhood spot by two Bestia alums. Old favorites also make the update, like Beverly Hills’ anything-but-snooty Heritage Fine Wines and Westwood’s Fundamental LA by Eater Young Gun Alicia Kemper.
Here now are the 23 essential Los Angeles wine bars, presented in no particular order, with the newest additions toward the top of the list.
Added: Wilde, Tabula Rasa, Wally’s, Upstairs 2, Fundamental LA, Restoration, Heritage Fine Wines
