A TLC Sugar Celeb Brings a Colorful Candytopia to East LA Next Month

The candy warehouse party starts in December

Yet another sweets-themed pop-up exhibit is landing in Los Angeles next month. This one’s called Candytopia, and it is the creation of TLC’s The Candy Queen star, Jackie Sorkin.

First reported by Los Angeles Magazine, the interactive Candytopia event boasts candy-themed art installations throughout a large interactive warehouse space. It’s happening at LA Hangar Studios, a production/event space on Valley Boulevard and Soto Street. Much like the Instagram-friendly Happy Place coming to the Arts District soon, the focus will be on capturing every corner and putting it on social media.

Although thousands of candy pieces will be on the the exhibits, the art itself will not be edible. Instead, Candytopia will offer sample-sized bites along the way, akin to the massively popular Museum of Ice Cream. Sold-out tickets and long lines plagued the latter, and perhaps was more of a tribute to ice cream, rather than an actual museum. Sorkin also promises that there will be food trucks in the Hangar Studios parking lot, meaning customers will pay for the Candytopia experience, and then pay again for food.

Tickets went on sale yesterday, and are $30 for adults. Children ages 4 through 12 are $23. The pop-up runs from December 15 through March 15, 2018.
