Whether our chic Instagram follows were celebrating Chinese New Year or not, the energy and spirit of the biggest lunar calendar holiday was felt in our feed. Between bites of homemade dim sum, model Liu Wen took to the streamer-filled streets of Chinatown in New York, posing in front of a fanciful stand filled to the brim with lanterns and trinkets. To fend off the snowfall that hit the city, the beauty threw on a fuzzy brown fur over her shoulders and flashed a smile. Even Florence Welch, who wasn’t actively celebrating the Year of the Monkey, slipped into a crimson midi-length crushed velvet frock, an orange fur vest, and suede boots that felt like an unconscious nod to the holiday’s color palette. And at celebrations down in the Big Easy, director Melina Matsoukas hit a Mardi Gras bacchanal in an allover printed look that included a leopard-print coat, green headdress, and—what else?—red mules.
But in a tête-à-tête away from the holiday festivities, Kim Kardashian West and bestie La La Anthony had a cozy catch-up in matching blackout wraparound sunglasses and monochromatic furs before the melee that was Yeezy Season 3.
