1) East Williamsburg: Self-taught baker Amy Berger opened a new pastry shop called Luckybird Bakery last month. The Brooklyn bakery specializes in bespoke cakes adorned with fresh flowers, organic berries, and exotic chocolates. Delivery is also available throughout New York City. 2) Upper West Side: Babka powerhouse Breads Bakery recently opened its second storefront today serving the bakery’s well-known babkas, cheesecakes, fresh breads, and pastries. The team is serving a Concord Cake as an homage to former UWS staple Soutine Bakery. Status: Certified Open; 1890 Broadway; 212-633-2253

3) Boerum Hill: A new tapas bar/lounge opened late last week called Nunez. Cocktails are Latin-inspired and tapas options include octopus, meatballs, flatbread, and grilled shrimp. Nunez also serves Sunday brunch. Status: Certified Open; 247 Smith Street; 718-576-4232

4) Little Italy: Nick Boccio (Mulberry Project and Greenwich Project) recently opened Aunt Jake’s, his casual Italian restaurant on Mulberry street. Boccio will be serving a variety of salads, sandwiches, and weekly specials like pork Milanase and lobster arrabiata. There is also a mix and match pasta section. 5) East Williamsburg: Brooklyn has a new 2,500 sq foot performance venue, bar, and restaurant called Sunnyvale. The space will host regular comedy shows as well as concerts and DJ sets. Sunnyvale will serve small bites alongside its full bar. Status: Certified Open; 1031 Grand Street; 347-987-3971

6) BushwickTwin Suns Deli, a new grocery/deli, opened last week on Himrod Street. From the team behind nearby Montana’s Trail house, the menu serves breakfast all day and sandwiches like the “Jerk” with spicy griddled sweet potato, hummus, and crispy collards on ciabatta. Products for sale in the store include apple sauce, peanut butter, spaghetti, and tomato pasteStatus: Certified Open; 244 Himrod Street; 718-484-9291

7) Gramercy: Vegan restaurant VSpot opened its third outpost in Gramercy last month. The menu will be the same as the Park Slope and the East Village locations, serving empanadas, nachos, and other vegan fare. 8) Williamsburg: At To Spiti, Alma Selmanay’s Greek take-out restaurant, diners can feast on “traditional, traditional” Greek specialities from the Athens native.
