Popular Atwater Village dive bar Club Tee Gee has lost its most prominent face, with The Eastsider reporting that Betty Barlotta has died. The longtime casual Glendale Boulevard haunt confirmed the news last Thursday.
Less a true club and more a dark haunt for cash-only drinks and a local crowd, Club Tee Gee has been open since 1946. Owners Joe Grzybowski and Neal Tracy (the T and G, respectively in Club Tee Gee) ran the place for decades before passing the business on to Barlotta in 1981; the lifelong Atwater Village resident continued to run the so-called “Cheers of Atwater” until her death.
Per the post, funeral services for Betty Barlotta will be held on Friday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
