Dale Talde and Co. Are Planning a New Restaurant Empire in a Chinatown Hotel

They’re opening four new venues in the Joie de Vivre hotel.

Brooklyn hitmakers chef Dale Talde, David Massoni, and John Bush are eyeing Chinatown for their next restaurant empire, with plans for four different venues at new hotel Joie de Vivre, as first reported by The Lo-Down. The crew, known for Talde, Thistle Hill, and Pork Slope, filed documents to Manhattan Community Board 3 with plans for four different venues in the hotel at 50 Bowery, including a bar serving dim sum with a prime rib cart, a restaurant with hand-pulled noodles, and a bar with a variety of hot dogs. Here’s a breakdown of their planned new ventures, according to a questionnaire filed with the board:

1) Second Floor Breezeway: This 150-seat space isn’t serving food but will have outdoor space to drink. It will sometimes be used for private events.

2) Cellar space, Green Lady: This restaurant will have seats for 119 people and will be open for dinner only. There will be a dance floor, and the space will be offering live music and DJ’s weekly. Food is served dim sum style, but options won’t be traditional dumplings and sticky rice. Expect a prime rib, Peking duck, sashimi, and tartare.

3) Ground floor, Rice and Gold: Rice and Gold seats 218 people and includes outdoor space. The menu, where prices range from $10 to $75, includes a list of largely Asian-inspired noodles like a roasted chicken pho and Szechuan braised rabbit with hand-pulled noodles. Entrees include a Thai fried chicken and a red cooked pork shank.

4) Top floor, name TBD: The bar serving a menu of “New York street food” will have outdoor space as well as indoor space. The city view will be the focal point, and the decor will be inspired by New York parks, with lampposts, park benches, and metal tables. A menu of hot dogs — like a Korean BBQ dog and a tandoori chicken dog — will be served from a vintage hot dog stand.

The team is going in front of the Community Board with their pitch later this month. Eater has reached out to the Talde team and will update when further information is available.
