While Miuccia Prada has always designed for a fashionable-thinking woman, the accessories she sent down the Fall 2016 runway today were something of an unprecedented brainteaser. As models Lexi Boling and Stella Tennant trotted out on the carpeted runway, compact and structured cross-body handbags hung gracefully off their arms and shoulders, with small bag charms swinging from their straps. The effect? A very meta and chic one for fall, with an accessory for your accessory.
And it hardly stops with the bag: Simply look to the heavily embellished necklaces that hung prominently against the collection’s brocaded waistcoats and intricately embroidered dresses. With trinkets of steely roses, keys, even a mermaid’s tail dangling gracefully from a metal choker, the look is layered and carefully, deliberately prepared. After all, Prada’s women are traveling the world next season, and from the look of things, they won’t be leaving a thing behind.
