The North African restaurant is on the brink, according to its owner
Chef Farid Zadi is preparing for a prolonged absence away from his Jefferson Boulevard restaurant Revolutionario soon, telling Eater that without a specific new deal in place from incoming landlords the entire operation could be in jeopardy.
The issue stems from a sale of the building that Revolutionario currently occupies, which first came to light late last year. At that time, Zadi was trying (unsuccessfully) to crowdfund a quarter million dollars to help purchase the property outright, but since that idea is now long-gone the focus has moved to negotiating a new lease with the developers taking over. Zadi, for his part, says he’s had little communication with them, but is fearing a massive rent hike — or request to move out altogether.
Regardless, Zadi says, of what a new lease looks like, it’s a good bet that Revolutionario will have to vacate the property at least for a time so that extensive upgrades to the property can be made. That puts Revolutionario on track to closed indefinitely as of the middle of July according to the chef, though no official timetable is currently set. Until then it’s business as usual, though Zadi will look to ramp up his food truck and catering side in the meantime. So for anyone after a plate of North African tacos, there may only be a month or so left.
