The popular international chain is gaining a local foothold
It’s been a wild ride for Hollywood Burger, the Walk of Fame restaurant situated right across the street from the gorgeous Pantages Theater. The company started as an international mini-chain playing off those sunny California stereotypes (and remains headquartered in New York City), but has since become something of an anchor for the community in which its named. Now the group is on the move, plotting two new locations around Los Angeles this year.
First up is Santa Monica, with an opening in the former Chou Chou space at 313 Wilshire Boulevard. Signage is already up, and reps for the company tell Eater that an opening sometime in late spring or early fall is most likely. The new location puts them just off the busy Third St. Promenade, around the corner for dining mainstay Michael’s, and steps from the ocean.
From there, look for Hollywood Burger to jump to West Hollywood with a third outlet at 8807 Santa Monica Boulevard, in the former George’s Greek Grill space right on the main drag. It’s a busy stretch stacked with bars and other dining options, so late night and early morning hours here could be key. The restaurant already does basic AM options like breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and the like, but will be jumping into fast-casual diner staples like french toast and pancakes soon as well.
The greater diversification of Hollywood Burger’s menu is meant to keep the upstart franchise relevant in the age of growing competition from everywhere, including Shake Shack and Burgers Never Say Die. For now it’s full steam ahead in Hollywood, with Santa Monica and West Hollywood to come this year.
