The high turnover at the site couldn’t have helped.
Looks like the oft-rotating restaurant space across from the Redbury in Hollywood is finally getting a permanent tenant: a giant new hotel. According to Urbanize LA, an incoming European chain called citizenM has secured the address at 1718 N. Vine, with plans to tear down the low-rise restaurant building that’s currently on site in favor of a new boutique hotel.
Of course, that address has been in and out of use for the past few years, most recently as Tiffany’s on Vine, a causal restaurant and lounge from the NYX Nightlife Group. Before that, it was the short-lived Asa Meza, which turned out Asian fusion fare but only seemed to last a couple of months. And before that, there was Lexington Social House, which had some shine on it at first but ultimately fell away in August of 2014.
The hotel newcomer — which will, of course, have its own restaurant component when it opens — joins the likes of nearby Mama Shelter in the growing hip Hollywood hotel segment. The latter is already up and running with its own all-day eatery on site, meaning soon enough worker bees in the dreaded Cahuenga Corridor could soon enough have more workable lunchtime offerings to choose from.
