Chef Ludo and his team are going even bigger in the Valley

After months of waiting the world can finally step inside chef Ludo Lefebvre’s French mind, a sanctuary of marble, checkerboard floors, floral detailing, and gold finishes. It’s a real place, called Petit Trois Sherman Oaks, and it opens next week.

There is, of course, already a Petit Trois further south next to Ludo’s stunning Trois Mec fine dining strip mall restaurant. But this new Valley destination is practically something else entirely. Instead of tight stools and loud French rap there are pastel banquettes and curved ceilings, with mirrors to help expand the room and tall front windows for that necessary California sunshine. The team from Hancock Design outfitted the place with period touches like muted gold lighting and a thick marble bar, plus a gilded back bar that’s heavily stocked thanks to a full liquor license.

As for the food, Ludo has long said that he would use this new location (his largest restaurant to date) to execute some French finery not previously seen in his restaurants. There will be daily service from breakfast through dinner, meaning croissants and quiche in the morning, salads and shrimp cocktails for lunch, and confit duck legs and beef bourguignon for dinner. Expect takeout and delivery for those on the go, some fun service surprises, and a private dining room that can hold more than 30 people comfortably.

Later this year the Petit Trois team (which includes partners Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo) will also unveil their small patio, with room for up to 14 people, as well as an expanded pastry and bread program. In the meantime the 12-person bar will be ready for walk-ins and reservations will be available for the 49-person dining room.

Petit Trois Sherman Oaks officially opens on April 26, keeping daily hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
