Is Steve Aoki’s Delivery-Only Pizza Service Going Brick And Mortar?

A help-wanted sign went up next to Sugarfish on Ventura Boulevard

In July, mega DJ and producer Steve Aoki loudly launched Pizzaoki. The delivery-only pizza service operates out of LA service kitchens and is delivered through services like Postmates and UberEats. Over the weekend, a spotter noticed a help wanted sign right next to Sugarfish in Studio City. This isn’t exactly cloud kitchen material on a busy strip of Ventura Boulevard, so is there an actual brick-and-mortar in the works?

Aoki and his partner, Lawrence Vavra outlined their company’s expansion plans, which includes seven additional Southern California locations before the end of the year. Beyond 2018, the pair has sights on 15 to 20 shops in San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Boston, Chicago, Miami, and New York City.

If this location is correct, Pizzaoki took over the shuttered Zafran Grill. It’s unclear when the Middle Eastern restaurant closed, but first opened its doors in 2016. Eater reached out to Pizzaoki’s reps, but has yet to hear back.
