LAFC Stadium Food Hall Will Open on August 14 in South LA

Plus one more big new chef announcement

Banc of California Stadium’s attached food hall The Fields hopes to open by August 14, and it has at least one more surprise to go along with its final reveal.

It was a packed scene at last night’s neighborhood-only mock service for the project, with RSVP’d diners getting gift cards to use at the various food stations, operated by names like Jason Fullilove and chef Roy Ner of Akko Port, a pan-Middle Eastern spot with laffa rolls and falafel.

Eater was able to sneak in for a first look at the mostly finished space, though some lighting details and signage is still yet to come. The entire second floor is also still wrapped up tightly, but will eventually be home to a standalone Timothy Hollingsworth restaurant to be called Free Play. The rooftop of the property is currently to be used for events only, but will also carry a bar as well as some pretty killer views of USC, University Park, and Downtown.

Sheer glass walls border the tall, bright space, with standing tables up front and seats and tables towards the back, near the living green wall. The bar to the left comes complete with beer, Taylor Parsons-picked wines by the glass, and on-tap cocktails from Julian Cox and Nick Meyer’s team. Hollingsworth’s fried chicken sandwich stand C.J. Boyd’s is the first name seen on the right, while other food vendors include Ms. Chi, Coni’Seafood, Burritos La Palma, Barbara Jean, Al Pastor by the Aqui es Texcoco team, and more.

Eater has also confirmed that former Chi Spacca and upcoming Antico chef Chad Colby will be working on site as well. His casual Piccolo Antico will offer light, portable focaccia sandwiches done in the style of All’Antico Vinaio in Florence, Italy. For now Colby is eyeing a 90-day run at the facility, with the possibility of staying on longer if he and the group wants. Regardless, Colby tells Eater that eventually he’d like to expand his Piccolo Antico idea into a wine bar format, serving the sandwiches alongside Italian wines at a standalone space elsewhere in the city.

The plan is to keep the food hall open seven days a week, running from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, catering to game day fans, USC students, and the broader community.
