New All-Day Dim Sum Destination Opens in a Prime West LA Strip Mall

Regional Chinese fare reigns supreme at Dim Sum House

There’s never been a better time for regional Chinese cooking on the Westside of town. Dim Sum House is the latest newcomer to join the ranks of Din Tai Fung in Century City, Little Fatty in Mar Vista, and Northern Cafe in Westwood.

Located in the former Mandarin Kitchen space, Dim Sum House has been quietly serving an abbreviated menu since last weekend, according to Food Talk Central. Owner Yang Hu, who also runs Hop Woo on Olympic Boulevard, recognized the need for better Chinese food options in the neighborhood. “There are only a few good dim sum restaurants here, “ he explained. “We want to bring dim sum of high quality to West LA.”

Hu has partnered with Guangdong-born Zhan Ming Xiao, the opening chef of Bao Dim Sum House in West Hollywood, to serve dim sum’s greatest hits to Westside denizens. On the menu are classics like baked barbecue pork buns, steamed rice noodle rolls, and shrimp dumplings. Prices range from $4.99 to $6.99 per dish depending on its size and intricacy.

Dim Sum House plans to introduce late-night grilled skewers, as well as Sichuan-style hot pot called malatang, to round out its round-the-clock offerings. The restaurant is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
