The industrial-chic spot will open in Old Bank District next month
A glitzy new restaurant is destined for Downtown’s Old Bank District, dubbed Blacksmiths. The place comes by way of the team behind District Pub and Eat Caffe, bringing a similar comfort food menu of New American fare. Slated for an August debut, it takes over the former location of The Must, and will be open for dinner, brunch, happy hour, and late night.
Located adjacent to The Lash on the ground floor of The Jeffries Lofts, Blacksmiths features high ceilings with industrial vibes that have come to define the neighborhood. That translates to exposed concrete posts, shiny brass accents, and chandeliers. There’s also a large enclosed patio allowing diners to pick between indoor and outdoor seating.
Taking charge of the kitchen is chef Edgar Ramos, who cut his teeth at The Sunset in Malibu, Patina Group, and La Piazza. As for the menu, expect dishes like bacon truffle mac and cheese, braised short rib, and crispy buttermilk chicken sandwiches with sweet and sour slaw. And with such a nice-looking bar, it’s no surprise that the beverage program will be an important component of Blacksmiths, with drinks by Rivera and Picca alum Deysi Alvarez.
