Day two of New York Fashion Week brought with it runway shows from Jason Wu, Cushnie et Ochs, Sophie Theallet, Chromat, and Rihanna’s new collection Fenty x Puma. Here, we recap the biggest collections and news of the day.
Birds of a Feather . . . Wear Jason Wu
After seasons of skipping his once-signature feathers, Jason Wu picked them up again for Fall 2016. They came on overcoats and party frocks, adding a lightness to his varied collection.
Street Style—It’s Electric!
Bright outfits and brighter hair ruled Phil Oh’s street style coverage today—cold weather be damned! There was also a fair share of leopard print and a couple berets for good measure.
Rihanna Rules the World
At her debut Fenty x Puma runway show, Rihanna sent out streetwear looks inspired by the shapes and styles she loves to wear herself. But for all the Rih-ness of the clothing, the models were transformed into semi-goth girls with painted hair and jet black lipstick. Even under the makeup, Gigi Hadid looked amazing.

A Touch of Romance at Gabriela Hearst
For a designer who falls squarely in the minimalist camp, Gabriela Hearst sure imbues her collections with a lot of heart. This season, she had tweed fabricated in her native Uruguay, asked staffers to create personalized badges for several pieces, and embroidered Morse code onto shirtsleeves. The message? “Love.”
A Silver Screen Siren Goes to the Big Top
You’ll be hard-pressed to find unlikelier bedfellows in this season’s list of inspirations than those listed at Cushnie et Ochs today: Louise Brooks and the circus. To some surprise, the two ideas played out quite nicely on the runway, with ’30s silhouettes and a healthy dose of dramatic flou.
It’s Ruth, Not May
Spring 2016’s beloved, buzz-cut model Ruth Bell made her first appearance of the season today at Jason Wu, her freshly shorn ’do made all the more dramatic by the show’s exaggerated eyelashes.
The Scene Behind the Scenes
The best Fashion Week moments happen backstage. Luckily Vogue.com photographer Kevin Tachman is there to capture all the action from New York Fashion Week. Take a peek behind the curtain with his dreamy photographs.
Art, Meet Fashion
Or really artist, meet runway. Fresh off a MoMA performance this Fall, Juliana Huxtable took the Chromat runway by storm, wearing a navy minidress with LED trim. Huxtable was just one of several trans women who walked in Chromat’s show.
