Abricott’s sister restaurants Daisy Mint and Fig Sprout remain open
Abricott, a beloved French-Vietnamese restaurant in Pasadena, closed on July 1 after a five year run. Jo and John Wee opened restaurant in early 2012 on South Lake, and made the announcement last month via the eatery’s website. Sandwich chain Mendocino Farms will go into its space.
Abricott prepared classic French cuisine with a Vietnamese influence, including omelets, croque-monsieur, waffles, and sizzling Vietnamese pretty eggs with toast in the early hours, then switched to a later menu with niçoise salads, yellow curries, pho, mussels, bánh mì, and a Vietnamese-inspired burger.
The couple owns two other Pasadena restaurants, the Asian-inspired Daisy Mint and free-range chicken joint Fig Sprout. There’s no explanation as to why Abricott closed. Koo Koo Roo, whose last Santa Monica location shut down in 2014, previously occupied the space.
An Alcoholic Beverage Control notice appeared on the front door on Friday, with the name Mendocino Farms LLC as the new business. Mendocino has 11 locations throughout Los Angeles, and the forthcoming Pasadena and Studio City locations are in the works.
