The BoardRoom Expands on LA’s Growing Speakeasy Venue Theme

The Patina Group’s latest is here

There’s something new (old?) happening around town lately. Maybe you’ve noticed it. It’s the return of the speakeasy, those semi-hidden drinking dens that often offer live music and always come with moody vibes and specialty cocktails. The next up in a growing line of similar options is The BoardRoom, tucked into existing Downtown Music Center restaurant Kendall’s Brasserie.

The BoardRoom follows a similar path as places like nearby Birds & Bees, with its in-the-know access and slick appeal. Expect low lighting and French art to go along with chef Jean-Pierre Bosc’s food. That means a bunch of quietly indulgent dishes like escargot shooters and oxtail poutine, plus cocktails and French wines.

Similar to Koreatown’s The Venue, this hidden gem will provide some entertainment to boot. The BoardRoom promises live jazz, poetry readings, and more every Thursday through Saturday, plus one-off events as they come.

The BoardRoom is now open inside the recently revitalized Kendall’s Brasserie complex, keeping hours Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. on. Last call is an early 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, then 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
