Mtn adds to the Venice legacy of Gjelina’s founder
And just like that, Mtn (read: Mountain) is open. The Travis Lett Venice izakaya project has been years and years in the making, but with a few friends and family nights under its belt the decision has been made to throw the doors wide and show off to the public starting last night.
Except, there’s not much to actually see. Lett is traditionally rather media-averse, and has instead chosen to let details trickle out through social media mostly. There’s the moody Instagram page with shots of snowy peaks and surfers, and a similarly-styled website, but not much else. As for shots of the food, only a few exist online so far.

Thankfully, the menu is somewhat known — at least in its current form. In typical Gjelina/Gjusta form, there’s no official link online, but Eater was able to get ahold of an early handwritten copy. As expected there are plenty of vegetables to snack on, from smokey eggplant with walnut miso to yuzu butter-baked mushrooms for $15. Other options include albacore tataki, pork belly gyoza, and a few iterations of ramen like the one above.
Per the Mtn website, hours are 6 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday through Saturday, for walk-ins only. Eater reached out for more information about the finished space, but so far hasn’t heard back.
