Your First Look at Kogi Taqueria, Dunkin Donuts to Atwater, and More A.M. News

Free dinner for the back of house

LA Times posts a note about Scratch Bar in Encino and their new dinner promotion for all back of house staff this month. Basically, chef Phillip Frankland Lee wants to buy you dinner, no strings attached. All month long (except Valentine’s weekend) you can show up with a pay stub showing your employment and earn a six-course tasting menu at either Scratch Bar or Gadarene Swine in Studio City.

Dunkin Donuts lands in Atwater Village

After taking over the bigger neighborhoods like Hollywood and Santa Monica, Dunkin Donuts is starting to dive into the smaller, more suburban areas. Case in point: Atwater Village, site of the next upcoming East Coast doughnut chain’s expansion. Landing in a small strip along Glendale Boulevard, the Eastsider reports the shop will cover 1,500 square feet, but doesn’t have an opening date just yet.

Take a peek at Kogi Taqueria

It’s not much to look at yet, but here’s a peek at the new Overland Avenue location of Kogi Taqueria, a stationary version the long-roaming food truck that’s headed into Palms. Things are in construction mode at the moment, but soon enough those short rib tacos will be flying out the door.

LA does it better

Zagat curates a list of things LA does better than everybody else around, including Korean BBQ, regional Chinese food, and and sushi. Of course, this being Los Angeles, the list does play to the stereotypes of juice bars and vegan food first — though admittedly we do handle business in those arenas as well.

Greek yogurt makes it to the next level

Go Greek Yogurteria has apparently caught onto something, considering they’ve opened three shops since 2013. Now comes their fourth, right on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. Toddrickallen says signage is already up, though it may be some time before the space actually comes to life.
